Friday night/Saturday morning finds me back at The Barfly, but not before my now customary visit to BrewDog Camden for a few pre-Barfly liveners so I don't have to patronise the venue's bar later.

Normally these late Jubilee Friday night club shows at The Barfly are pain to get home from as the bands finish long after the last tube has departed Camden Town.

However, this week there is an unexpected bonus because of the Olympics - the tube is running about an hour later than usual!
This is good news for all those who want to see Lilygun

It's good to see this band playing at one of Camden's best known venues, although The Barfly suffers from it's all too common muddy sound mix tonight. The smoke machine hinders the chances of getting many decent pictures, although the smog does clear at bit now and then.

In spite of the sound through the PA being less than sparkling, the band put on an excellent performance. The enigmatic Anna-Christina now seems to have made a full recovery after being slightly under par at the band's recent gig in St Albans - where the sound was noticably better. However, although the mix is poorer tonight at least the band are playing to a bigger crowd.

Lilygun's mixture of Goth, Glam, and Grunge (with some added metal) seems to go down well with Camden's clubbing hipsters - I think a buzz is starting to build around this band.

Yes, the more observant of you might have recognised the bass player - it's Rachel Stamp's D.R.P. standing in on four strings for the current round of Lilygun gigs. It's not the first time a member of that band has played with Lilygun either as one of their earlier drummers was notorious drum whore Robin Guy.

It's another strong performance from Lilygun - catch them at one of their forthcoming London gigs soon as they are on a roll...
