Back to Bar Monsta again to see Shush. This is a band who don't seem to do bad shows - they just seem to get better. They are all experienced musicians and have mostly served (or are still serving) in the mighty AntiProduct - a band you will be hearing a lot about in blogs for the forthcoming week.  However, this band are nothing like AntiProduct - but who is? They have a 'pop' side, and can be heavy too - but that is as far as it goes. Milena's vocals come to the fore instead of being part of the sublime backing vocals in her 'day job' band, and she has a lovely voice. Marina's bass is more upfront than it was in her former outfit, and she looks like she is throroughly enjoying having more input in the sound of the band. Andy provides some nifty lead guitar while Simon thunders away on the drums at the back and really drives things along. The sound of this band seems to get more polished with every gig, and they sound heavier tonight as well for some reason. It's all good.

I am pleased to find that the final band on the bill tonight is The Clams. I've seen them as a support band a couple of times and have been very impressed by their heavy stoner type riffing mixed with 70's hard rock influences. They take the energy to a higher level than other stoner bands, and have more complex songs than just basing them around one or two heavy riffs. They are also very loud! Their music is quite intense and they managed to get people moving - these are fine musicians who play and work off each other really well as a proper band - as opposed to a bunch of good musicians who happen to be all playing the same song at the same time. It's a real pleasure to see a band who work as well together as this - it's not something you see that often. Another excellent value for money night at Bar Monsta.
