My first visit to Lark In The Park for a while - one of London's more unique, and rather intimate venues. The comparative comfort and pub prices for drinks make a welcome change - fairly cheap to get in as well. I'm there to see Honeykill, but there are a couple of other more indie style bands first. One is called King Rat, and they are quite a classy and well polished act although not really my sort of thing. I don't catch the name of the other more straight ahead indie rocking outfit. This is the first time I've managed to catch the proper lineup of Honeykill - every other time there have either been a member down, or using stand-ins to replace absent members. This has been worth waiting for as tonight's is certainly the best Honeykill show I've seen. The band seem more assured overall, and frontman Jimi is more fired up than I've seen him at previous gigs. There is a good turnout for this show - particularly for drummer Johnny the newest member. Now the band have a more solid lineup in place and are playing more regular gigs they are starting to show their real potential with their well crafted Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age influenced songs. This is turning into a band to watch and I look forward to seeing them again soon. |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
