A great night! Planet Of Women opened up the evening in fine form - but they only seem to play good shows or better.  This was one of the best performances I've seen from them. There were some promising newer songs aired, and the band seemed much more like a full on rock band than before - as opposed to three girls and a hard rock backing band. This welcome development made an already terrific live act even better.
The Quireboys were on fine form and played a good selection and their now substantial catalogue of songs. Spike was his usual entertaining self, and possibly not as 'well oiled' as he often is. Nigel Mogg appeared to be in 'robust spirits' though.  An already good show got even better when Jade from Planet Of Women joined Spike for a duet - the chemistry of that worked really well. Then as the icing on the cake, all the girls from Planet Of Women joined the band on stage to provide backing vocals for the ballad 'I Don't Love You Anymore' and the show stopper 'Sex Party'. It was a marvelous end to a terrific show.
PS: This Quireboys show was subsequently released on DVD as 'One more for the road', but Jade's amazing duet with Spike was edited out - maybe because she sung Spike clean off the stage? It's a shame because that was one of the highlights of the show.

PPS: This venue has since been demolished to make way for London's 'Crossrail' project.
