Saw two of my favourite bands on the same bill upstairs at The Garage. The turnout was a little disappointing, but JOANovARC very recently played a higher profile show at Islington Bar Academy which probably has a lot to do with it as they've played to much bigger crowds at this venue before. Dead Monroe were on excellent form and really rocked the place. They didn't play their best known song 'Beep Beep' which was a shame, but they have plenty of other great songs. They went down very well with the crowd and I'm sure some new fans were won over. I was a bit puzzled that they finished their set with a cover of the T-Rex song 'Children Of The Revolution' when they have some great songs of their own they could have played instead - it's not like they are short of decent songs and need to pad their set out. JOANovARC were terrific as usual - I've never seen these girls turn in anything less than a great performance. A couple of new songs were aired - the band now have so many good songs that some really excellent ones have to be left out of the set. This band play so many gigs now that they have honed their performance to an amazing degree and regularly turn in stunning shows. |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
