So the third band on the bill are Plastic Toys. I think I've seen them somewhere in Camden in the last year or so and been somewhat underwelmed, but tonight I think they are quite good, if a little electro/pop sounding. Disarm are on next - a band who can always be relied on to give a full-on performance! They certainly don't disappoint! Junction7 is pretty rammed by this time and the event is in full swing. There is a surprise in Disarm's set tonight - they don't normally do any covers, but tonight their Ramones/Backyard Babies inspired racket is interupted by a Billy Idol song! Disarm are on top form tonight and I think this is the best I've seen them so far. There had been no sign of Zen Motel earlier when all the other bands were arriving, and even when the second or third band were playing they still hadn't turned up. Then during Disarm's set members of Zen Motel are seen struggling though the crowd with their equipment - talk about cutting it fine! Amazingly, the band manage to start more or less on time. Their frontman Lee introduces them by saying "We're Zen Motel and we've just got here!" The band then tear into a particularly energetic set! Zen Motel look like they are absolutely loving playing to a packed room of really 'up for it' punters! The band themselves are definitely just as 'up for it' as the crowd and they really pull all the stops out for this show! I've never seen Lee smile so much during a show - this could well be because I've never seen Zen Motel play to such a full room and such an enthusiastic crowd! Trash-Stock 2008 is proving to be a great event - a terrific lineup of bands and a marvelous atmosphere! It's certainly proving well worth the trip to Nottingham - and the show is only halfway through. The Erotics, Patchwork Grace, The Pleasures, The Glitterati, and Robin Black have yet to play. However, at this point I have to leave as Honeykill need to get back to London for a party and they are my ticket home - I don't know Nottingham at all and have nowhere to stay so hanging around and ending up extremely drunk in a strange town probably wouldn't be the best plan... I have to quickly say my goodbyes before heading back to the smoke with Honeykill who have been so kind as to bring me to Nottingham with them. The day and night so far has been quite an adventure, and there is still a party to go to in another city - but that's another story... |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
