24/6/2008 Dead Monroe @ Bullet Bar

BodyDead Monroe continue their quest to become the Kings of Kentish Town. There are other pretenders to their throne at Bullet Bar tonight, but the first band on are some losers who throw a strop and walk off after playing two or three songs because the sound isn't to their liking.  New balls please...

Next we have The Instants. They are basically just a pop group, although the CD they are handing out for free is actually quite good - if you like that sort of thing. The frontman entertains us with his dancing - which someone from another band says is 'really gay!' - you had to be there really.

Also on the bill are a band called Kitsch - described to me earlier as 'like an Italian U2'. That is actually a very accurate description and they are a really good band.

Out of the four bands on the bill, there is only one who anyone has come to see on this quiet Tuesday night - that band is Dead Monroe.

They are certainly the most professional and together looking band, and they also have the best songs.

Confident and assured in their performance, this band continue to evolve and refine their sound - now less heavy and riff based than in the past.

They always had great tunes, but these days they are more 60's pop and 70's glam influenced.

There is still a slight punk edge to their basic stripped down and raw sound - the attitude still bubbles away underneath the now more polished surface. Ones to watch...
PS: This venue (once known as The Verge)  later became 'The Flowerpot', but has since closed...
