Subject | 20th March - Part 1: Disarm & Dead Identities @ the Purple Turtle |

Back to the Purple Turtle for the second night running - this time for a far more rock ’n’ roll night. ![]() ![]() ![]() There is a good crowd of the ’usual suspects’ and more by the time Dead Identities take to the stage. They provide their usual set of fired up Ramones influenced punk tunes and help get the crowd fired up for the following acts. They are quite different from the far more mainstream metal sound of the previous band Illuminatus who finished their set just as I got to the venue. Dead Identities style matches very well with the following act though. Disarm turn in a strong performance as usual with their glam tinged punk rock racket. They are more tuneful than your average punk band, and shapes are thrown, poses are pulled, and eyeliner is worn. This band always put on a powerful performance, and it’s easy to see why they were winners at the recent Pure Rawk Awards. The crowd is suitably entertained in preparation for something very different to end the evening - all the way from Germany. See Part 2... The Purple Turtle is one of my favourite music venues, but tonight it loses points on two counts: For the first time I’ve seen at this venue, they have one of those really annoying toilet attendants. Why? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still, even these two annoyances can’t stop the fun and expectations are high for the headline act.... |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
