26/6/2008 Vamps 'N' Gypsies @ the Intrepid Fox

One of my favourite bands in one of my favourite places - result!  They don't have bands playing that often in the Intrepid Fox so this is a bit of an event.

As Vamps 'N' Gypsies are the only band playing tonight they get to play for longer than usual. New songs are often being added to their set - the only drawback being that some of their cracking earlier songs have to be left out to leave time for the newer ones.

They put on a good show as normal, although slightly restricted by the cramped surroundings of the upstairs room at London's best known rock pub. This band's mix of AC/DC, G'N'R and other classic rock influences mixed in with their own style is perfect for this venue.

This is certainly one of the most entertaining bands around at the moment, and as well as being good fun to watch they also have some catchy and memorable songs - something many of their peers are sadly missing.

All this makes for a really good night out - it's certainly more pleasant than most rock venues as the atmosphere is nice and the Newcastle Brown is much more reasonably priced. It actually feels far more like a Saturday night than a Thursday. Vamps 'N' Gypsies set is over all too soon - always leave 'em wanting more as they say. I hope they get asked to play here again...
PS: The Intrepid Fox at this location closed at the beginning of April 2014. It has now reopened at the former Archway Tavern on Archway Corner.
