24/4/2009 Men & Gods (yes them again!) @ The Constitution

After seeing the same band at a 'proper' venue a couple of nights ago, it's actually much nicer to see them in a pub - the pub in question being the much more intimate Constitution in Camden. It's actually far better because the management actually care, and the beer is really good! This is a place I always look forward to visiting. Men & Gods are used to (and deserve) bigger and better venues than this, but it's actually a much more enjoyable night for me than 93'E two nights ago. Marc is less 'pirate' tonight and more 'Tyla' (more of him in a forthcoming blog) but it's another good set.

The sound system might not be as good as a couple of nights ago, but the atmosphere is certainly better - as is the beer! I think I already mentioned that, but as regular readers know - I am rather fond of my real ales!

One of the things I like about this band is that every show is completely different to the last. There never seems to be a setlist and it's largely made up as they go along -  never allowing things to get stale and ensuring that I can go and see this band time and time again without getting bored - even twice in a week!

There is partying elsewhere afterwards, and I seem to remember someone rather lovely cooking us fish finger sandwiches at a band member's flat before I finally staggered out into the daylight and got the tube home in the morning - so much better than the night bus...
