A very good turnout at the Boston Arms Music Room in Tufnell Park this Thursday night for what is essentially a Battle Of The Bands type of event. As is usually the case with this type of event the style and also the quality of the acts on display varies enormously. It's not usually the best band which wins this sort of event - just the one who manage to bring the most friends and family to the show. I'm only here to see one band though, and don't stick around to see much else. Shush are on good form, but then again I've yet to see them have an 'off' night. As there are so many bands playing Shush only get to play for about 20 minutes. They get a surprisingly good sound mix in the circumstances and their brand of pop/rock get's a good reception from those who stay to watch. I'm surprised the band don't play their Blondie cover 'Call Me' as that's always a crowd pleaser. As I'm really skint I just have one drink, see Shush and head home at a sensible time for once. |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
