30/8/2011 Dirty Fingernails @ Nambucca

Back down Holloway Road yet again to Nambucca - this is getting to be a habit. Still, there are plenty worse habits than going to a decent music venue where it's only about six quid on the door to see several bands, and the drinks are similar to pub prices. And the real ale pump is working again tonight.
They've had some good bands down here recently too.

The first time I saw Dirty Fingernails was in the Constitution in Camden several years ago. Back then they were a Finnish brother and sister synth/pop duo. The next time I saw them was at the Hope & Anchor and they had transformed into an all male four piece rock 'n' roll band - and rather a good one too. Dirty Fingernails are still a good rock 'n' roll band - with a Scandanavian edge to them.

Now the lineup has changed again with the return of keyboard player Paivi. Her brother Sami is an excellent rock 'n' roll frontman, but with the return of keyboards the band now has a slightly more 'pop' feel.

Not much in the way of pictures from this gig I'm afraid - the smoke machine ensured most of them were unusable.
Dirty Fingernails are still an energetic and entertaining band - very different live compared to what you might expect from their MySpace page.
PS: This venue closed suddenly in early 2014.
