Once again I find myself at Nambucca - this seems to be becoming more of a regular haunt of mine since The Gaff closed it's doors further down Holloway Road earlier this year. This venue is more of a hike from the nearest tube station, but does have the advantage of real ale on tap and reasonable bar prices - which makes it far more attractive than many music venues.

There is a band playing as I arrive, but the sounds coming from the back room don't encourage me to check them out so I stay at the bar chatting and enjoying a pint or two of London Pride.

The band I'm here to see is Ferocity Lights.

This is their first gig for some time as they have been busy writing new songs for their second album.

The band's debut album features heavilly in the set, but some promising new songs appear too. Although serious subject matter is dealt with in the songs and there is a strong alt rock and grunge influence, the emphasis is strongly towards good catchy tunes and the music being fun.

Not a great turnout at Nambucca tonight, but still an enjoyable night and worth the trip. Let's hope we don't have to wait so long for the next Ferocity Lights gig.
PS: This venue closed unexpectedly in early 2014.
