93 Feet East is one of those venues I look forward to less and less after each visit. The actual building itself is OK (apart from the dressing room toilet and holes in the floor) it's just the way it seems to be managed by people who don't give a shit. The bar staff are fine, but I find it highly ironic that a venue in what used to be part of the old Truman brewery in Brick Lane finds it so difficult to serve beer. There are plenty of beer taps on the bar in the room the bands play in, but they don't seem to have any actual beer. I mean, really - how difficult is it to manage a bar so you can serve beer? It's not rocket science is it? Is there a beer shortage in East London or something?

Fortunately, at least we have Men & Gods to provide some decent music! Marc seems to be dressed in more of a pirate fashion than usual.

The band play well as they always do, and the modest crowd seem to get well into the band's brand of retro rock. The standard of musicianship is very high and it's always a pleasure to watch the musicians interact with each other in this band as well as listen to the music.

Unfortunately, the stage lighting hinders my feeble attempts at getting some decent pictures as there always seems to be a light shining directly into the crowd/camera. The sound is suprisingly good, in spite of the sound and lighting engineers not appearing to care about anything other than going home as early as possible. As soon as the band finish their set the engineers kill the stage lighting completely - leaving the stage in total darkness is the band struggle to get their gear off the stage. Muppets.

A rock 'n' roll toilet in East London yesterday.
PS: This venue is now closed.
