	I was listening to Alice Cooper's radio show this morning and he was talking about the Guitar Hero game and lamenting that kids these days are spending all their time playing that instead of bothering to learn how to play the real thing. He was wondering where the next generation of rock stars are going to come from if no-one is learning to play guitar anymore?  On a parallel, I think the same applies to football (which I'm not interested in BTW) and that is why this country is crap at football these days. I think this applies to sport generally - kids used to be out in the street, in the garden, in the parks playing football constantly - which is how they got good at it. Nowadays they sit sit at home getting fat playing football games on their X-Pox/PS3 or whatever instead. Meanwhile, out in the poor countries where the kids don't have such luxuries they are all out in the streets and fields playing football for real and honing their skills. This is why this country will be crap at football and most other sports and get soundly thrashed by Johnny Foreigner for the foreseeable future.... As for kids playing the Guitar Hero/Rock Band Games. I believe Alice is right up to a point, but on the other hand it's getting the kids excited about rock music and going to gigs, and who knows - some of them might even pay for the odd download too - so I can see benefits. And I'm also sure there are a few kids out there who really get into playing Guitar Hero enough to make the effort to actually learn to play a real guitar too... Of course, another reason kids start playing in bands is because they realise it's a great way to get members of the opposite sex interested in you.  Hey kid - you aren't going to pull while you're playing with your PS3 in your bedroom! But if you learn to play guitar and strut your stuff in stage even if only in your local pub, you'll find you suddenly get far more interest from the opposite sex - even if you are spud ugly and can hardly play. Yes really.
