Subject | 26th July, Part 1: Johnny Panic @ The Water Rats |

Last night I went to two gigs in one night - tonight I'm doing it again. First port of call is the Water Rats to see Johnny Panic This band are always very good live. Not only do they have loads of great songs, but they also turn in a very impassioned performance - without being all 'emo'. This is very much a band with a message, but unlike some bands they manage to get it across without being all preachy or reverting to cliche. They like slogans, but this is no Manics or Towers Of London. It works on more than one level - there is deep meaning in the lyrics if you want to look that deep, but if you just want good pop tunes you can sing along or some well played hard and heavy music with a punk attitude then there plenty here to keep your interest as well. This is music with highly intelligent and thought provoking lyrics, but it you just want to enjoy the music and have fun you can do that too. One thing you can be sure of though - this band mean it man... No time to hang about as soon as Johnny Panic finish their set - I have another gig to get to... |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
