It's not that often that Patchwork Grace play in London, so Thursday night finds me at The Enterprise in Camden to see them. The small room upstairs where the bands play is pretty shabby, but at least you can get real ale downstairs - which is better than most music venues. This is only the second time I've seen the re-vamped lineup, and although the new guys don't have such a good image as Crip and Joey Strange did I think musically the band is better these days. Tori is an engaging frontwoman and draws you into her strange world. The setlist for tonight's gig concentrates on the band's second album, and the first to feature the current lineup. Like the debut album there are some strong songs on it and the band put them over well live. Probably more of a Karen O and less of a Queen Adreena influence on the new stuff, but good all the same. Certainly well worth the trip down to Camden on a 'school night' - let's hope Patchwork Grace don't leave it too long before visiting 'the smoke' again. |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
