Sunday night and it's off to the 12 Bar Club to see Sun Circus play only their second ever gig. It's always a pleasure to visit the 12 Bar with it's cool vibe, friendly staff and good selection of bottled ales at reasonable prices. Low door tax too! The turnout in this most intimate of venues is modest tonight, but the band give it their best shot regardless. Their first gig was surprisingly good, but tonight's is definitely better - possibly because they've got any 'first gig' nerves out of the way, although I believe they are all quite experienced in playing live from their various previous bands. The sound mix is better than it was at the Boston Arms the other day, but that wasn't too shoddy either. The best song tonight is a cover - D.A.D.'s 'Sleeping My Day Away', but their own material is in a similar vein and shows promise. The band play well and have a good sound, with a singer who sings rather than screams or shouts - which is always good. No more gigs from this lot for a while though as frontman Nikki is soon to be off on tour as a roadie with Saxon - no doubt to return with many tales to tell! |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
