This is a slightly weird night for me. Some people seem to think I'm a Goth - which I'm not. But here I am at a gig that's full of them! I guess I look like I fit in, but I really don't feel like I have much in common with this crowd at all - although oddly enough I meet four or five people I know. The reason I'm at Dingwalls is to see The Eden House - a band who caught my attention at my local festival recently (see my blogs on the East Barnet Festival) by being so completely different to all the other bands on the bill - nearly all of whom were cover bands. People had travelled to Barnet from as far afield as Coventry just to see The Eden House - tonight people have travelled from Scotland to see this band. Those are dedicated fans! Sometimes it makes a refreshing change to see a band who are different to the usual sort of stuff I go and see - so here I am. Dingwalls is packed with Goths for a good reason tonight - The Eden House have impeccable Goth credentials as their floating lineup has featured ex-members of Fields Of The Nephilim, and there are also connections to The Mission. This band's music is dark, brooding, and atmospheric. There are changes afoot in the Eden House camp, as singer Amandine Ferrari (below right) is leaving and this is her last show with the band. Two new singers have joined the band: Valenteen, and more recently Anna-Christina. Having up to three singers on stage at a time certainly adds a lot of depth to the already deep sound and feel of the band, and there is always something going on. If you like your music dark and moody then this band are well worth checking out. |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
