It's been a while since Men & Gods have played any shows - I was looking forward to seeing them at The Gaff last December but they pulled out of that gig. This Bull & Gate show looks like being their last gig for a while as they are now signed to a US label and will be off over there soon... The band have lost none of their sparkle with their recent absence from the live scene and tonight's performance manages to be loose and relaxed while still coming across as polished and professional - an outfit who seem totally at ease with eachother and interlock really well together as a band. As well as being excellent musicians individually and sounding great Men & Gods are also one of my favourite bands to watch. This is due to the fluid inter-reaction between the band members as they glide effortlessly through the set - with no setlist on stage as ringmaster Marc seems to make it all up he goes along. They seem to have an effortless Led Zep type vibe to their performance without sounding like that band - I think this lot have the potential to really go places with the right breaks... |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
