A bit of an odd one this. The venue isn't one of my normal haunts. I've been planning to go to The Comedy on several occasions over the last year to see various bands, but every single time the gig has been cancelled. The bands play in a room downstairs at this pub in the heart of London's theatreland. It's fairly small, but not too shoddy as music venues go. Unfortunately, Men & Gods have to battle with technical problems tonight - Nadia can't hear herself through the monitors, and out front her keyboard drops in and out of the mix seemingly at random. Minz the bassist has arrived at the show direct from a beach party in Brighton and is somewhat the worse for wear - to put it lightly. Amazingly, he manages to pull it off and play the show. Although he has trouble even standing up after the set, I didn't notice any bum notes and he seemed to play OK. What a trooper! In spite of the various problems, drummer Alric and frontman Marc manage to sail through on an even keel and things still sound quite together - while the lovely Nadia sounds good when she can actually be heard. Even on an off night, this band is still better than most the other bands on London's underground rock scene. |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
