A bit of a blast from the past tonight - the return of Candyheads for a (one off?) reunion gig in Chalk Farm's Fiddlers Elbow. This more obscure venue close to Camden is a bit off the beaten track and a bit of a dive, but I've been to worse. There are actually only two members of the Candyheads that I saw a few times back in the day - guitarist Hanna is busy with her band In So Far these days and drummer Stu is MIA. Original members Ted and Mic certainly seem to be having fun tonight though. The best known songs from the band's album 'Go Forth And Multiply' get an airing and are well received - I certainly never thought I'd hear songs like 'Falling Down' or 'Open' live again. The band play well and are obviously enjoying themselves, so hopefully this won't be the last we see of them... The final act of the night is Malone - a new name to me. This turns out to be a singer rather than a band as such, but most of her band look rather familiar! Malone is rather good - she is a blues/soul belter along the lines of Janis Joplin. She rocks! All in all a rather good night's entertainment for only a fiver. |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
