The gigs are coming thick and fast this week, and tonight I find myself back at one of my favourite venues. The Purple Turtle is actually somewhere I look forward to going, as opposed to being yet another stinking shithole with dodgy toilets and a bar which has nothing I really want to drink. It's usually very cheap to get in as well, so more money to spend on beer! It's been a while since I've seen the Gasoline Queens and there have been a few lineup changes since then. Various guitarists have come and (rather quickly) gone again. The band are currently 'between guitarists', but for this gig their old axeman Dave Renegade is back for a 'one off' appearance. Dave looks like he's never been away and seems to thoroughly enjoy playing with the band again. The Gasoline Queens brand of dirty rock 'n' roll is good fun. The band pay tribute to Tyla and Dogs D'Amour with a cover of 'Last Bandit'. It's a song which suits the band well - and is highly appropriate as Gasoline Queens became Tyla's backing band last year on a tour and became 'Dogs D'Amour' for it's duration. It's certainly worth a trip down to Camden on a Sunday for an evening of beer and rock 'n' roll. |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
