A gig outside of Camden or the West End? Yes, they do happen kids! As some of you are aware, the East End is turning into 'the new Camden' with an assortment of shabby clubs and boozers putting on rock and indie bands. One of these venues is the Rhythm Factory in Whitechapel. It's a bit of a dive (although I've been to far worse in the area) but the bar at the front is verging on trendy. The selection of beer isn't up to much but the prices aren't too outrageous. Then you go out the the room at the back, and you are in a typically grubby rock venue. It is a bigger room than you would expect to find after walking in from the front. Unfortunately, the rather long bar is shut. Dead Monroe hit the stage with 'Timezone' - one of their newer batch of tunes. The first three of their indie/rock styled songs are catchy up-tempo numbers, including recent single 'Sweetheart' with it's clever lyrics. 'Singing The Blues In Red' slows things down a bit before the bouncy 70's sounding 'You're No Good For Me'. Things slow down again with 'Out Of My Head' before the only cover of the night as the band tear through 'Silver Wings' by Dave Clarke (no - not that Dave Clarke) which brings their set to an end on a high powered note. |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
