Went to see the Transmitters play at the Purple Turtle for the first time. I guess the turnout was reasonable for a virtually unpromoted gig at one of Camden's less well known venues on a Wednesday night. The Transmitters put on an energetic show and sounded good, although the bass and keyboards were a little low in the mix. In a change from his more usual Epiphone semi-acoustic guitarist Matt was playing a very cool looking Rickenbacker. The contraversial (inside the band) new song 'Locked Inside A Box' got another airing and was well received by the audience, as was the rest of the set. The following 'headline' band were the least good of the three I saw at this gig. I can't remember their name but they were a standard indie band, with the addition of a couple of Japanes girls flanking the stage on backing vocals and keyboards - and managing to look like they really didn't want to be there - a marked contrast to the enthusiasm normally shown by Japanese people on rock bands like Electric Eel Shock and Mikabomb. After a few minutes I decided I really didn't like the noise this band were making and headed for home - a most unusual occurance for me as there is a band playing and the bar is still open... |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
