Went to see Caroline Alexander at The Forum - her biggest headline show to date. This needed to be a good show, and it was. It was the best vocal performance I've seen Caroline give - she has the voice of an angel and great technique to match. She also looked great in a black and red goth styled corset and skirt. Her band seemed slightly more adventurous and rocking than normal as well, with Mark the bass player appearing to put the most into it. It was good to see the band on a big stage, and I kept thinking of all the other great bands I have seen on the same stage - Motorhead, the Wildhearts, Terrorvision, The Damned, ect. The set was a good mixture of both old and new material, old single and Banshees cover 'Hong Kong Garden' got quite rocking halfway though after a pedestrian start. More recent single 'Yellow Baby' was very good'. A couple of Skunk Annansie songs were aired - including one in the acoustic interlude in the middle of the set, which possibly went on for a song or two too many before the band returned to rock things up again. Naturally, some songs from Caroline's new album 'Scenes From The Underground' were played, including current single 'Suicide Note' which brought the show to an end to much applause from the crowd. The aftershow was good too - certainly a lot better than the Terrorvision one at the same venue a year or so ago. It was nice to meet Sam and Debbie from JOANovARC there as well. |
These Blogs mainly deal with the countless gigs I go to, but there is some other stuff in there too - and the odd rant! I've just finished adding over 900 of my old posts from MySpace on here - everything is now on proper chronological order from 2005 to date - there is a LOT to read. Some of the older links may not work anymore - just click on the highlighted text for links to more info.
